Techno Catalogue Cooperation Protocol Signed Between TÜBİTAK and DMO
On July 11, 2019, between the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) and the State Supply Office (DMO), a “Techno Catalogue Cooperation Protocol” was signed in order to develop technologies that are critical to the development of our country and in line with the 2023 goals of the National Technology Move. TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, our Director General Mr. Mücahit Özdemir and officials of the relevant institutions attended the signing ceremony held at TÜBİTAK Feza Gürsey Conference Hall.
Within the framework of the cooperation protocol signed, technological products developed as a result of TÜBİTAK TEYDEB R&D incentives and sold to the public will be included in the DMO Techo Catalogue platform, and commercialization and branding processes will be supported by enabling entrepreneurs to get a greater share from public purchases.
“Commercialization of the Product is the Biggest Problem”
In his speech, our Director General Mr. Mücahit Özdemir, who gave brief information about DMO and talked about the benefits provided to the public; pointing out that public procurement plays a critical role when the development policies of all countries are examined in detail, said, “We think that the public will play an important role, especially in countries like ours that need to develop towards high-tech products. We see that the biggest problem of the sector, especially in the R&D part, is the branding and commercialization of the product. In the early stages, TEYDEB R&D-based products need life line support and it is possible for the sector to develop with the procurement policies of the public. With this important cooperation that we will make with TÜBİTAK today, we aim to contribute to the development of this ecosystem by enabling the companies that receive support from the BIGG program (Entrepreneurship Support Program) to reach the public market.”
In his speech at the signing ceremony, TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal stated that the cooperation with DMO will be a new model and will contribute to the visibility of the companies. Expressing that there are difficulties in the adoption and commercialization of startups in the early stages, Prof. Dr. Mandal pointed out that the support of the public in this area brought entrepreneurship to a more meaningful dimension. Continuing his speech by thanking DMO and those who contributed to the rapid cooperation process, Prof. Dr. Mandal said that “Supporting technological development areas, guided by support and incentives, with public procurement is important in order to reduce the financing problem of companies. With the cooperation of TÜBİTAK-DMO, BIGG companies will be included in the Techno Catalogue, and an important step will be taken to enable BIGG companies to sell to the public.”
For the First Time in Our Country, the Road from the Idea of Business to the Market will Be Unified
Companies that want to be included in the DMO Techno Catalogue Platform will be prepared for the public market at the end of the project, by ensuring that the processes are written in the Business Plan with the “From BIGG to the Market” Mentoring Training. In brief, for the first time in our country, the road from the idea of business to the market will be unified. In the process of developing the technologies that our country needs, TÜBİTAK and DMO will work together in the field with the understanding of technology management. A “Cooperation Development Working Group” will be established and this group will be in constant communication and interaction with entrepreneurs. There will be continuous exchange of information/data between institutions. At the idea stage of entrepreneurs who will sell to the public market, joint “Awareness Seminars and Trainings” will be organized to raise awareness on business model creation, market strategies, marketing channel, revenue model etc. Success stories that will emerge as a result of this cooperation will be shared with the public.
